2026 Jerez WorldSBK, Race 1 Results: Bulega dominates as Lowes creates rare upset

Results from Race 1 at the 2026 Spanish WorldSBK at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto.

Nicolo Bulega extended his current winning streak to four in Race 1 at Jerez, beating Sam Lowes by 1.6 seconds. Bulega's win was his 50th in WorldSBK and his 30th of the 2026 season.

Sam Lowes' second place was an important one as he became the first rider to finish ahead of an Aruba.it Racing Ducati since Phillip Island, securing his best finish of the season in the process.

Iker Lecuona took third, a disappointing result for the Spaniard in 2026. He congratulated Lowes for his ride in parc ferme, but this was Leucona's worst race - barring the crash in the Superpole Race at Donington - since round one.

Alvaro Bautista took fourth. He was ninth early on but picked off Lorenzo Baldassarri, Tommy Bridewell, and Alberto Surra before getting onto the back of Alex Lowes, and then passing Yari Montella towards the end.

Montella himself took fifth, whcih was enough for him to secure third in the riders' standings ahead of Alex Lowes, who was only eighth but also the only non-Ducati rider in the top-nine, beating Tommy Bridewell. 

Axel Bassani was the only other non-Ducati rider in the top-10. MGM fill-in Loris Baz was the only Ducati rider to miss the top-10, finishing 12th.
